Meet the Tampa Team Behind Birchbark Roofing Tampa

Most roofing crews show up as a truck and a ladder. Ours shows up with names. The Birchbark Roofing Tampa crew is a small, tight group that has worked together across enough Tampa summers to know exactly what a roof in this city goes through: afternoon thunderstorms, salt air off the bay, and the kind of heat that melts cheaper sealants by July. What unites the four people below is pretty simple. They show up on time, they say what they’re going to do before they do it, and they treat the inside of your house the way they’d want someone treating theirs. Our People

Marcus D. – Lead Technician

Marcus has been on Tampa roofs for 17 years, and he’s seen just about every failure mode this climate can produce. He’s our GAF Master Elite certified lead, which means his installs meet the manufacturer’s spec for full warranty coverage, not just whatever gets the job done fastest. Marcus is the guy who walks the roof with you during an inspection and points to the exact shingle lifting near the ridge vent before you’ve even noticed it yourself. He’s also the reason our trucks carry extra pipe boots and sealant, because he refuses to leave a job knowing a small fix will become a big one in six months. On weekends, Marcus restores old flats boats, and he says fiberglass work and flashing work have more in common than anyone wants to admit.

Luis R. – Senior Installer

Luis runs our replacement crews and handles the parts of the job that separate a roof that lasts 12 years from one that lasts 25. He’s certified for CertainTeed and Owens Corning systems, and he specializes in the details most homeowners never see until they matter: starter strip placement, valley metal, and the way a roof ties into existing stucco on a 1920s bungalow in Seminole Heights. Luis has done hundreds of tear-offs in and around Tampa, and he plans every job around the weather window like a fisherman reading a tide chart. He carries a small notebook where he logs decking measurements and ventilation calculations for each address he’s worked, because he’d rather explain a number than guess at one. Ask him about his daughter’s softball team and you’ll learn more about batting averages than you expected at a roofing estimate.

Dana W. – Service Coordinator

Dana is the person who picks up the phone when you call (850) 600-8577, and she’s been coordinating roofing schedules in the Tampa area long enough to know that two o’clock in August is not the time to start a tear-off on a west-facing slope. She’s our point person for permits, material orders through GAF, CertainTeed, Owens Corning, IKO, Atlas, Tamko, and Boral, and the written price you receive before any work starts goes through her desk first. Dana also manages the coordination details nobody thinks to ask about: if the dog needs to stay inside during the job, she’ll build that into the schedule. If you have a baby who naps from one to three, she’ll pass that to the crew so nobody shows up with a nail gun at one-fifteen. She’s lived in Tampa since 2008 and can tell you which neighborhoods need re-inspection after oak pollen season.

Chris T. – Apprentice

Chris is three years into his roofing career and working through his manufacturer certifications under Marcus and Luis. He handles a lot of the ground-level work that keeps a job site clean and organized: he stages materials, keeps the magnet sweep going after tear-off, and makes sure the tarps stay put when an afternoon storm rolls in with ten minutes of warning. Chris grew up in Brandon and joined Birchbark Roofing Tampa because he wanted to learn from a crew that does things right rather than fast. He’s the one who takes the photo of the completed clean-up before we leave your property, and he sends it to you along with the final walkthrough summary. He’s currently learning copper flashing work and will talk your ear off about it if you ask.
